Family says Florida soccer league removes 3-year-old after complaints

A Florida family says a youth soccer league asked their 3-year-old son, Nevada, to leave after other parents complained about his skill and lack of passing, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. Police escorted the family away from the field after the dispute escalated.

The reason for the removal remains the family's account: ABC7 Los Angeles did not provide an independent explanation from league officials or the parents who complained. The league later offered Nevada a spot on another team, which his family said they plan to decline.

Video shared by the family shows Nevada playing soccer against 5-year-olds, ABC7 Los Angeles reported. His parents described him as a standout player who competes against older children.

The family said other parents complained to league officials Saturday, objecting to Nevada outperforming older players and not passing the ball enough. According to the family's account, officials then asked him to leave the league.

A league official called police as the disagreement escalated, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. Officers responded and escorted the family away from the field.

The report did not identify the Florida city where the incident occurred. It also did not provide a separate account from league officials or the other parents explaining the decision.

The league's subsequent offer would allow Nevada to play on a different team, but his family said they do not intend to accept it, ABC7 Los Angeles reported.
