North Hills woman kills husband, 2 children, herself in murder-suicide

A 30-year-old North Hills woman shot and killed her husband and two young children — including a newborn just six days old — before fatally turning the gun on herself last week, ABC7 Los Angeles reported.

The case, which claimed the lives of a toddler and a newborn barely a week old, remains under investigation as authorities work to determine a motive, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.

Marine Basmajian, 30, shot and killed her husband Khajag Basmajian, 31, their 6-day-old daughter Ella and 2-year-old son Alec before turning the gun on herself, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. Officers responding to shooting calls on Londelius Avenue discovered all four family members inside their North Hills home.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the identities of all four victims. Investigators have not released a motive, and the case remains active.

Florence Barreras, a neighbor who lives next door, said she "did not notice anything unusual the night of the shooting," ABC7 Los Angeles reported. Barreras said the last time she had seen her neighbor, Marine Basmajian had been expecting her newborn daughter and had not yet given birth.

The shooting drew the attention of local authorities, who continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the family of four.

No motive has been announced. The investigation remains open, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.
