Thieves steal two cash registers from East L.A. 7-Eleven

Two robbers in dark clothing made off with more than $1,000 in cash after stealing two registers from a 7-Eleven in East Los Angeles early Wednesday, ABC7 Los Angeles reported.

No injuries were reported in the incident, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said investigators are looking into whether the theft is connected to a series of recent 7-Eleven robberies in the area.

The robbery occurred around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 4600 block of East Olympic Boulevard, near the interchange of the 710 and 5 freeways, ABC7 Los Angeles reported.

One of the two suspects jumped over the counter and grabbed both registers while the pair then fled westbound on Olympic Boulevard, according to ABC7.

"There was no forced entry into the 7-Eleven or intimidation used by the suspects," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.

Only one customer was inside the store at the time, and no injuries were reported. An employee who wished to remain anonymous told authorities that more than $1,000 in cash may have been inside the stolen registers, ABC7 reported.

LASD said investigators have not yet determined whether the theft is linked to other recent 7-Eleven robberies in the area, according to ABC7.

No suspects had been identified or arrested as of Wednesday morning, ABC7 reported. LASD said the investigation remains ongoing.
