ABC's 'Home For Good' renovates homes for veterans, first responders

ABC has launched "Home For Good," a new weekend series in which a construction team has seven days to transform the homes of military veterans, first responders and community heroes, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.

The series reaches Southern California audiences through the ABC7 Los Angeles affiliate, which serves Orange County — a region home to large veteran and first-responder communities whose housing accessibility and daily-living needs can go unaddressed for years.

Hosted by Art Edmonds, the show follows a two-stage process: a design team first meets with each recipient to learn their specific needs, then a construction crew completes the work within exactly seven days, ABC7 reported.

"Home for Good is really uplifting and telling these stories of triumph over tragedy," Edmonds said.

The renovations are tailored to each hero's circumstances. "Whether it's creating a safe bedroom space when a first responder works overnight on the night shift and they need to sleep during the day. Maybe it's a handicap access ramp from a backyard deck so somebody can get down into their yard where they haven't been in years. All of these things really change their lives," Edmonds said.

Each episode culminates in an emotional reveal. "That moment where I bring the individual or the family into that space, their eyes are covered, and we recap — We had a long week together. We've experienced highs and lows together — and then they see their space for the first time. It's uplifting, inspiring and emotional all at the same time," he said.

The series is produced under Walt Disney Company-owned ABC and airs on the network's local station platforms nationwide.

"Home for Good" airs weekend mornings on ABC. The series premiered in May 2026.
