OC Animal Care cuts adoption fees in August

OC Animal Care in Tustin is lowering adoption costs in August as part of Clear the Shelters month, with a Saturday adoption event featuring reduced or waived fees, according to Voice of OC.

The effort puts a local focus on moving shelter animals into homes, including cats, kittens and larger dogs at the county-run shelter in Tustin.

According to Voice of OC, the shelter’s August promotion cuts weekday cat adoption fees in half and waives adoption fees for dogs weighing 25 pounds or more.

OC Animal Care also planned a Clear the Shelters adoption event at its Tustin shelter on Saturday. Animals not already covered by waived fees were set to be offered at half price during the weekend event, Voice of OC reported.

The shelter highlighted several animals available for adoption, including Lizzie, Silly Sam, Drowzee, Beabadoobee and Ranger. Lizzie, Silly Sam and Drowzee have each been at the shelter for about 1.5 months, according to Voice of OC.

Silly Sam is 3 months old, while Drowzee is 5 years old. Beabadoobee, a 33-pound dog, and Ranger, a 62-pound dog, are also available through the shelter’s foster-to-adopt program, Voice of OC reported.

The Saturday event included resource booths, many kittens, free Disney-themed pet items and a cargo liner for each dog adoption while supplies lasted, according to Voice of OC. The shelter is open daily for adoption visits from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voice of OC reported the promotion is part of a monthlong push to place more shelter pets with adopters in Orange County.
