OC Animal Care pets look for homes in July promotions

OC Animal Care in Tustin is featuring adoptable dogs and cats this summer, including animals covered by July adoption promotions, according to Voice of OC.

The county-run shelter is offering reduced or waived fees for some animals, a local push that could help Orange County residents adopt pets now waiting in kennels and cat areas.

Voice of OC reported that OC Animal Care is highlighting several adoptable animals at its Tustin shelter, including dogs and cats included in July promotions.

Among the dogs is Mr. Nibbles, an 11-year-old short-haired chihuahua mix who weighs 18.6 pounds. Staff descriptions quoted by Voice of OC call him a “shy old man.”

Mr. Quirk, a 10-year-old dachshund weighing 23 pounds, is also available for adoption. Staff notations quoted by Voice of OC say he is “full of quirk.”

Isabel, a 2-year-old pit bull weighing 55 pounds, is eligible for a July promotion waiving adoption fees for dogs 25 pounds and up, according to Voice of OC.

The shelter also has more than 200 cats available for adoption, including Hama, a 10-year-old cat weighing 7.1 pounds, Voice of OC reported. Cat and kitten adoption fees are reduced to $100 on weekdays during July, and Rodger, a 3-month-old weighing 2.9 pounds, and Mario, a 5-month-old weighing 4.1 pounds, are among the cats covered by the promotion.

OC Animal Care is open daily for adoption visits from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors may walk through kennel areas to see available animals, or call the main line with a specific animal ID number to schedule an adoption visit, according to Voice of OC.

The July promotions remain centered on moving shelter animals into homes while giving residents a lower-cost path to adoption.
