Messi animated series teaser debuts before 2027 Disney premiere

A teaser for the children’s animated sports-fantasy series “Messi and the Giants,” executive produced by Lionel Messi, debuted at Comic-Con Málaga ahead of a planned global Disney+ premiere in summer 2027, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.

The announcement links one of soccer’s best-known figures to a Disney children’s series built around teamwork, athletic skill and fantasy storytelling.

ABC7 Los Angeles reported that fans at Comic-Con Málaga saw the first teaser for “Messi and the Giants,” an animated series centered on a boy named Leo who enters another reality ruled by giants.

The series is executive produced by Lionel Messi, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. Milo Burgess-Webb voices Leo, the 12-year-old main character.

The teaser shows Leo being pulled through a computer screen into the broken realms of “Iko,” ABC7 Los Angeles reported. In that world, Leo must rely on teamwork and athletic ability in soccer-like contests as he tries to return home.

The teaser also includes original music, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. The theme song, “Vamos, Vamos, Vamos,” is by Luck Ra.

The series is scheduled to premiere globally on Disney+ and air on Disney Channel in the U.S. in summer 2027. ABC7 Los Angeles reported that The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+, Disney Channel and the ABC station that published the article.

The premiere is planned for summer 2027 on Disney+ worldwide and Disney Channel in the U.S.
