Dallas shootings kill four, injure 15 on Halloween night

Three shootings in Dallas' Deep Ellum neighborhood killed four people and injured 15 on Halloween night, ABC7 Los Angeles reported, citing police. Investigators had not determined whether the shootings were connected.

The Dallas shootings were among several reported during Halloween weekend. ABC7 Los Angeles also reported a fatal shooting in Birmingham, Alabama, and shootings that sent people to hospitals in Newark, Delaware, and Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said officers were interviewing people they had arrested to determine their connections to the shootings, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. Police did not disclose how many people had been arrested or specify charges.

In Birmingham, one person was killed and eight were wounded in a shooting near Legion Field after the Magic City Classic, the station reported. The shooting occurred near vendors on Graymont Avenue after most spectators and families had left the stadium property.

Birmingham police detained one person for questioning and recovered several weapons, according to the report. The circumstances surrounding that shooting remained unclear.

In Newark, six people were shot near the University of Delaware campus shortly after 11:10 p.m. Saturday. All were taken to hospitals, and part of Main Street remained closed for several hours, ABC7 Los Angeles reported.

Another six people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a shooting early Sunday in Fayetteville, according to the station. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated an altercation preceded the shooting.

Fayetteville police reported no arrests. In Dallas, investigators were still working to establish why the shootings began and whether they were related, according to ABC7 Los Angeles.
